What Is It
Red Ball Tennis is an introductory version of the sport designed especially for young children and beginners. It uses larger, softer red tennis balls that move more slowly and bounce lower, making them easier to hit and control. Played on smaller courts with shorter racquets, Red Ball Tennis helps players develop proper technique, coordination, and confidence while keeping the game fun and approachable. It’s the first stage of the USTA’s youth progression system, giving kids the perfect start to a lifelong love of tennis.
